Nujeen Mustafa to speak to students at Kinsale Community School
Posted by Kinsale Advertiser on 12 October 2016

Nujeen Mustafa, the subject of a new book by renowned journalist and author Christina Lamb, will take part in a Skype interview this Friday at Kinsale Community School where students will hear at first hand the experiences of a Syrian teenage refugee.
16 year old Nujeen fled Syria with her sister, making the perilous boat trip to Greece and travelling through Serbia, before reaching Cologne in Germany to be reunited with her brother. This journey is fraught with dangers for any human being as we are all too aware from the dreadful images we see daily coming from the Mediterranean Sea, but the fact that Nujeen is confined to a wheelchair has made her safe arrival into Germany even more miraculous.
Nujeen has recently been interviewed on Channel 4 and by BBC journalist Fergal Keane. Originally from Aleppo, Nujeen will speak to KCS students about her harrowing journey and the devastation she has left behind.
The Skype call, organised by Padraig Fitzgerald of Kinsale Peace Project with the kind permission of Fergal McCarthy, school principal, will take place at 3pm on Friday in the school and donations are invited for Trocaire's Syria Fund.
