Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, Martin McGuinness, will be the first guest of Kinsale Peace Project in 2016. One of the signatories of the historic Good Friday agreement, Mr. McGuinness will give a talk on the Peace Process, the Good Friday Agreement, power sharing and the future of the North. The Friary Centre will be the venue for the talk which will talk place on Saturday 30th of January at 11am, by kind permission of Prior Fr. Peter.
Kinsale Peace Project was established by locals, Padraig Fitzgerald and Gerard Timmons, seven years ago with the aim of promoting peace and justice at home and overseas and to encourage Human Rights speakers to come to Kinsale to speak about their work in conflict areas of the world.
Guest speakers have included Fr. Peter McVerry, Christina Noble, Sr. Stan Kennedy, Joanne O'Riordan, Fergus Finlay, Paul Rusesabagina, among others.
