Kinsale wins again at National Enterprise Town Awards 2019

Kinsale is celebrating after winning both Regional and National Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town Awards for 2019 at Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny.

Kinsale is on a roll of accolades in recent years, having won Ireland’s Most Enterprising Medium Sized Town and €13,000 prize money in 2018, as well being awarded Ireland’s No 1 Foodie Town in the same year. It has now just won the National title for the most Enterprising Town in Ireland in the 5,000 to 12,000 population category. An incredible accolade for the seaside town.

Kinsale also, for the third year running, won the overall Regional Munster Title in these hugely anticipated Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town Awards taking home a total prize money of €13,000 in the process.

A huge achievement for Kinsale and its hard working community, firstly being shortlisted to the 80 plus finalist at a gala awards ceremony, attended by over 500 people along with Minister Heather Humphreys and Bank of Ireland CEO Francesca McDonagh.

The Kinsale submission was lead by the local Chamber of Tourism and Business who took the judges on a journey of Kinsale Enterprise, from the breathtaking Old Head Golf Links to its award winning education infrastructure where the judges visited Kinsale Community School and were given a tour of this world class campus by Principal Fergal McCarthy and then to Kinsale unique shops, boutiques and galleries, each with their own story of enterprise. Community groups such as Tidy Towns, Age Action, Plastic Free Kinsale, KYSS and a host of other fantastic community groups made up a central part of the presentation to the judges along with a body of research recently completed by the Chamber to set out a 20 year vision for Kinsale under the new umbrella group Future Kinsale.

The judges commented at the awards that Kinsale is an inclusive town that caters to the needs of all, a town that pulls together and endeavours to live by its ethos “a rising tide lifts all boats”

Speaking on behalf of Kinsale Chamber, Chairperson, Guny Patel said "We are really honoured to be bringing home 2 awards for the businesses and community of Kinsale.  As a town, we are so proud of the work we do and what we achieve together and it is wonderful to be recognised at a national level.  A huge thank you to all the businesses, community groups and Cork County Council for their time and support in helping us achieve this. We would also like to thank Bank of Ireland, for helping us grow as a town and community by participating in the journey to awards night."
