Acclaimed choreographer, Laura Murphy, Dancer in Residence at Cork’s Firkin Crane, is preparing to Premiere “A Dance Concerto†as part of Cork Midsummer Festival and is looking for Community Cast members to get involved in the production, this June.
Laura, originally from Kinsale, trained at the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London and in the World Academy of Music and Dance at UL. She has performed all over the world, worked as a choreographer and collaborated with numerous other artists in multi-disciplinary performances. For this forthcoming performance, “A Dance Concertoâ€, she will work with a group of dancers and musicians, both professional and amateur, to create a live score in collaboration with composer Irene Buckley, also from Kinsale.
Anyone interested in getting involved in the Community Cast should contact Laura on [email protected]. Absolutely no experience is necessary, just a willingness to get involved and to be available to perform on June 19th. Rehearsals will be held at Firkin Crane and City Hall from June 11th. Boys and girls, men and women, aged from 8 upwards, are welcome. This is a unique opportunity to appear with world-class performers in the Premiere of this intergenerational community dance work, “A Dance Concerto.â€
