Kinsale Community School is pleased to announce that 36 students have been selected to showcase their projects at the BT Young Scientist and Technology exhibition in the RDS, which was officially opened by President Higgins this afternoon.
Kinsale Community School has a remarkable record of successful participation in this prestigious event, having been awarded the overall prize on three separate occasions.
Kinsale Community School has the largest representation of any school in the Cork region at the event.
550 projects are being exhibited across four categories: technology, biological and ecological sciences, social and behavioural sciences and chemical, physical and mathematical sciences.
Our 36 enthusiastic participants departed the school at 6.30am this morning, accompanied by their mentors: Shaun Holly, Damien Sweeney and Martina Gallagher. A supporters' bus will travel to Dublin tomorrow to experience the event.
Principal Fergal McCarthy expressed the school's pride in the participating pupils, supporters and mentors saying: "We wish to express our best wishes to our students travelling to Dublin and our gratitude to their parents and mentors for all their support."
Judging begins this afternoon and the exhibition will be open to the public from tomorrow until Saturday.
Further details will be posted on the school website www.kinsalecommunityschool.ie
