Arts Galore in Kinsale this Summer
Posted by Kinsale Advertiser on Monday 12 June 2017

Kinsale Arts Festival has been sorely missed on the Calendar of Events in recent years leaving a big gap to fill during the summer months. There was great news earlier this year however with the announcement that there would be not just one but two helpings of culture this year, Kinsale Arts Weekend, July 7th to 9th, and Words by Water Literary Weekend, October 5th to 8th!
Now the news is even better with the confirmation that the Abroad Writers’ Conference will take place in Kinsale from August 4th to 10th with renowned author John Banville joining a select gathering of writers for the event.
Founded by Nancy Gerbault, Abroad Writers’ Conference was inspired by French Salons in Paris where guests would enjoy the company of others who shared their love of literature, history, wonderful food and wine. Conferences have previously been held at Hever Castle and Lismore Castle and following a very successful event in Dublin in December 2015, it was decided to hold the next conference in Kinsale in August. Further details on the Kinsale visit can be found on http://www.abroadwritersconference.com
Plans are well underway for Kinsale Arts Weekend in July with Art Exhibitions, Poetry Readings, Plays, Workshop and so much more taking place throughout the town. A few highlights include a Studio Tour of the Joseph Walsh Studio, Mick Flannery at the White Lady, A Lecture on Brexit, Trump and Right Wing Politics by Dr. Anthony Angelini at Philip Grey’s Gallery and a writing workshop for teens at the Youth Café with Niamh Prior. There really is something for everyone on the weekend of July 7th to 9th.
October will see Words by Water take place featuring Irish novelist, playwright and poet Dermot Bolger, Paul Howard, Colm O’Regan and the wonderful Tara Flynn who returns to her hometown for the Festival. https://www.wordsbywater.ie/
