Appeal for Cork County Tourism Information
Posted by Kinsale Advertiser on Friday 15 March 2013

The Irish in Europe Association (International) AISBL are organising in Brussels at Halles Saint Gery Cultural Centre the Irish in Europe Art & Photo Exhibition "Cork meets Brussels" "Brussels meets Westport" "Bringing Brussels and Ireland closer together in Europe".

The Exhibition opens on March 7 and lasts until April 28. It is expected that at least 20,000 people will visit the exhibition and about 10 million people will read about it.
The main objective of this exhibition is to promote Ireland as a holiday destination and in particular promote its 2013 partner promotion regions Cork City and County and Westport and Mayo County. In addition to distributing the all Island Tourism information guide, there will be special Cork and Mayo County Information stands. These stands will be manned by volunteers for 7 days a week the during exhibition.

One of organisers, Ken Buckley of Gallery Kinsale, would like to make a special appeal to all those engaged in Tourism in the  Cork and Mayo Counties  in some form or other(accommodation, restaurants, leisure, trad music pubs, bike hire, and sports and leisure  activities), to send us their tourist information, literature, business cards and fliers. We will display and distribute this information free of charge on your behalf. Brussels is the third wealthiest Region in Europe and offers Irish people engaged in tourism a ready made market for Belgian residents who will be impressed by the volunteering spirit of the Irish Diaspora and non-Irish who are giving up their time to promote and help Ireland through the current economic crisis. This personal presence by the volunteers provides the essential human link, individual and personal exposure for the tourism products. This marketing exposure is going to make the difference and give the edge for Irish Tourism and in particular for small businesses, who could not afford such exposure but only dream about.
