Jerome Lordan’s family on his maternal side (Dempsey) have lived at the Old Head for at least 250 years. Fisherman, walker and passionate historian, Jerome shines when guiding in his native place. After many years providing cruises in Kinsale Harbour, Jerome has come ashore to share his love of history. His walking tours are deeply rooted in his personal connection to the area as a fisherman and lifelong resident, blending maritime knowledge with local heritage.
With an ongoing study in Genealogy, he has a B.A in Archaeology, an M.A. in Local History (UCC) and his work is inspired by his deep love of place and his knowledge of local topography, folklore and traditions. He is the author of two publications, No Flower’s on a Sailor’s Grave: Shipwrecks of Kinsale & Courtmacsherry in 2014 and co-author of Peninsula People in 2023. He is currently researching fishing during the 19th century, with a particular emphasis on the famine years.
