Kinsale Regatta!
Posted by Kinsale Advertiser on Tuesday 25 July 2017

The oldest Regatta in Ireland, celebrating 221 years this year, Kinsale Regatta will once again have a range of activities on land and sea for people of all ages. Always a fun-packed week, the event includes mixed-dinghy racing, Sandycove Island swim and children’s sailing. A spectacular Zap Cats display takes place at 10pm on Sunday, August 6th, which will be followed by a monster Fireworks Display. One of the firm favourites since its revival a few years ago, the Greasy Pole will be held on Monday, August 7th!
The festival will be officially opened by Leo McMahon at the Short Quay at 8pm, with live entertainment and family fun. The Regatta Road Race takes place on Friday 4th, with the ever popular children’s Fancy Dress Parade on Sunday 6th August. Visitors from all over the world will gather at the Temperance Hall on Tuesday 8th for the Emigrants Welcome Home Reception. The Short Quay will host live entertainment nightly.
At the official programme launch, Cllr Kevin Murphy, Chairman of the Bandon Kinsale District Municipal Council, said the continued success of the Regatta was due to the great community spirit of the hardworking committee led by Ted McNamara.
Don’t miss all the fun from Thursday August 3rd!
