Kinsale Lions Walking Festival

The inaugural Kinsale Lions Walking Festival, which takes place on October 17th & 18th, offers walks for all ages and abilities in and around historical Kinsale. Created by Kinsale Lions Club, it was initiated to provide a festival for all the community whilst raising funds for Marymount Hospice who are the principal partner charity for this event.

EVENTS:
Saturday 17th October 2015:
The 1601 Battle Walk:  10.30am
Starting from Kinsale Community school this walk takes in the area of the troop camps and the battle area of the historic 1601 battle of Kinsale.  This is a C rated walk suitable for experienced club walkers and those 12 and over who do not regularly walk but who have an average level of fitness and able to walk 16kms over mostly over mostly level ground.  Historical information provided on the day.

Social Evening:  7.30pm

Sunday 18th October 2015:
Kinsale Coastal Walk: Check in from 10.30am Walk Start time 11am
Starting at Kinsale Community School this walk takes in the Bandon Estuary, Scilly walk and along the outer harbour and Charles Fort and the Lions coastal walk to the headland and return.  This is a C rated walk of circa 16K and is suitable for experienced club walkers and those of average fitness over 12 years of age.

Family Fun Walk: 12.30pm
Starting at Kinsale Community School this is a walk for all the family and winds through the town along Scilly Walk to Charles Fort where there will be a talk on the Fort and its history and return to Kinsale Community School via the town.

Kinsale Lions Club is a 100% voluntary organisation.
