Kinsale Fringe Jazz Festival – An Alternative for Jazz Lovers
October 25th – 29th
If you are looking for an alternative to the Cork Guinness Jazz Festival, why not make your way to the Kinsale Fringe Jazz Festival, now in it’s 23rd year, where you'll find the best of Jazz, blues and other interesting sounds to keep you entertained over the October Bank Holiday Weekend?
An offshoot of the Cork Jazz Festival, this event has a slightly less frenetic pace than the larger festival, but there is still plenty on offer for Jazz lovers. With events running every day from lunchtime to late night, at 15 venues around the town, you may well find there is no need to ever leave Kinsale and head to the city.
Kick off your Jazz weekend with a free gig at The White Lady with Jazz and blues sensations, “The Blues Brothers Bannedâ€. This stunning 10 piece UK band will play the White Lady on Friday 26th as part of their Guinness Jazz Festival tour and is a show not to be missed. This is the biggest Jazz outfit to hit Kinsale in years and will be the ideal way to start you off on your ‘Jazzy Trail’ this weekend.
Speaking ahead of next weekend’s Fringe Jazz Festival, Hal McElroy, Chairman of Kinsale Chamber of Tourism said “While some people think the main event is taking place in Cork City, we all know that the best sessions are taking place right here in beautiful Kinsale. There will be performances in venues across the town over the entire Bank Holiday Weekend with many favourites returning and new sounds coming to the Kinsale Fringe for the first time. The Kinsale Fringe Jazz Festival has an unexplainable magnetism; with free live music throughout the weekend, themed with a charming intimate setting, a loyal and generous sponsor and a dedicated hardworking organising committee.â€
