Kinsale Chamber of Tourism & Business AGM - Looking forward to a strong season ahead
Posted by Kinsale Advertiser on Tuesday 23 February 2016

Over 40 members of the Kinsale Chamber of Tourism & Business attended the Annual General Meeting at The Trident Hotel on Monday 22nd February. Chairman Tomás O’Brien, Secretary Manfred Thelen and Treasurer, Fiona Carson were re-elected and a number of members took up positions on various sub-committees, to include Marketing, Activities, Accommodation & Restaurants, History & Heritage and Business to Business.
There was an air of optimism as Kinsale looks forward to a busy season ahead as many businesses are re-opening for the season this weekend, with the remainder opening early March in time for St. Patrick’s Day and Easter.
Kinsale Chamber’s marketing plans were outlined by Jackie Dawson, PR Consultant, with incremental increases in unique hits to the website www.kinsale.ie and steady increase in social media following on both Facebook and Twitter as well as launching on Instagram this year.
Issues such as the need for some Cork County Council funding, support of CES schemes, pay parking, litter and street cleaning were raised with a good discussion and action points noted. It was agreed that Kinsale Chamber would support the town Spring clean and work with the Tidy Towns Committee, all businesses and residents to ensure Kinsale works hard to keep the public areas clean this year.
