Kinsale & Weddings - A Marriage Made in Heaven
Posted by Kinsale Advertiser on Wednesday 1 June 2016

Kinsale is fast becoming one of the most popular places for weddings and, tapping into that popularity, the 5 main venues in the area will launch 'Kinsale – The Wedding Capital of Ireland' initiative in July. The official launch will take place on July 17th and the website www.kinsaleweddings.ie will also go live soon.

The 5 main venues are the exclusive use private estate – Ballinacurra House, along with stunning hotels the MacDonald Kinsale Hotel & Spa, The Blue Haven, The Trident and Actons. These venues  have come together, with the backing of the Kinsale Chamber of Tourism, to position the town as the must-go place for a wedding with a difference.

Weddings are big business and the industry is estimated to be worth over €1 billion a year to the Irish economy. Kinsale has long been one of the most famous and fashionable towns in Ireland, renowned for its stunning harbour, famous forts and architectural gems, nestled between hills and shoreline and a maze of narrow streets reflecting its historic backstory.
As well as this stunning photogenic backdrop there are 65 bars and numerous gourmet restaurants, art galleries, coffee shops galore, and a mild climate that plays host to world class facilities and amenities including the spectacular Old Head Golf Course with beautiful walks, sailing, fishing and lots more.
Kinsale can also rightly claim to be the Wedding Capital of Ireland, with fabulous venues from boutique hotels to private exclusive use estates and every possible supplier from milliners, wedding dress shops, cake makers, wedding stationery designers, candle makers, vintage jewellery stores, award winning photographers, etc – everything for the prospective couples to make their nuptials unique, fun and stress free.
“Kinsale as we know is one of the most special places in Ireland and the place to make your wedding vows, because its steeped in History, Fun and Food,” said Tomas O’Brien, Chairman  of Kinsale Chamber of Tourism and Business.
“The positioning of the town as the Wedding Capital and all that it has to offer, is a great initiative along with the start of the Wild Atlantic Way, a busy year round time table of events, a booming restaurant business and the fact that our heritage town has something unique to offer everyone.”
With this unique marketing platform the world famous West Cork town -  rated one of Ireland’s top destinations – is expected to drive further growth in this fast growing sector of Irish business.
And as well as the amazing location  and traditional hospitality – it could not be more accessible with the state of the art Cork Airport 25 minutes away, well serviced by bus and train routes and coach companies for tailored itineraries.
You could even kick off the ultimate honeymoon road trip as it’s the designated starting point for the Wild Atlantic Way !
Kinsale is well placed to take advantage of the growing National and International Wedding market. The anticipated growth in the international market and with the country a much favoured destination in the Gay Wedding scene, weddings in Ireland and Kinsale in particular are expected to take a significant spike in the coming years, as the region is growing fast as an international hub.
