Details have been announced for a special food and fundraising event at The Munster Arms Hotel, Bandon on Thursday 18th April at 8pm to benefit Ballinadee National School, Co Cork.

Sheila Kelly of Bord Bia will give a Cookery Demonstration and Talk, with tasty and nutritious recipe ideas when cooking for small numbers or the whole family, as well as outlining the principles of a healthy diet.

Also, Donal Lordan, butcher from Ballinspittle will be in attendance, to inform and advise how shopping with the local butcher ensures 100% quality meat and how to choose the best cuts of meat and poultry to suit everyday cooking and special occasions.

Additional features include a wine and cheese reception with cheese generously sponsored by Carbery Cheese. This will be followed by a special ‘Taste of West Cork’ promotion with Diva Boutique Bakery & Café, Ballinspittle, Radical Roots Farm, Cookery Cottage, Katie’s Chocolates and Urru Artisan Café & Food Store, Bandon and the Greedy Pig food company, Kinsale.

There will be some fantastic raffle and spot prizes on the night, including 4 Ball at the Old Head of Kinsale Golf Course (value €800), Hereford Society and Aberdeen Angus Society meat vouchers (€150 each), full lamb cut and packed for the freezer by Martin Carey Butcher, €100 Farmers to Market Chicken voucher, a ham from Staunton’s Meat, a leg of lamb from Moloney’s Butcher Bandon. Also, a Birthday party for 10 children at Cookery Cottage, €50 for Poacher’s Inn all in Bandon, €100 voucher from the Blue Haven Hotel Kinsale and a hamper from the Greedy Pig food company.

“We are very fortunate in County Cork and particularly in the Bandon / Ballinspittle area that we have so many quality farmers, butchers and producers ensuring excellent quality and price and would like to thank all our generous sponsors of these wonderful raffle and spot prizes.

“This year, the Ballinadee Parents Association has supported Music, Gymnastics, Swimming and Spanish classes, all important extra-curricular activities that give children an added dimension to their primary education. With this fundraising initiative, we hope to support Speech & Drama lessons in the Summer term that will benefit all pupils. We look forward to the support of parents and those in the wider community,” she added.
