A Kinsale Christmas, a Date for your Diary!
Posted by Kinsale Advertiser on Thursday 6 December 2012

The Kinsale Christmas Concert, hosted by Opera Cork, has now become an annual event.  This year the Concert will again be supporting  a most deserving local charity, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which does such sterling work in helping those in need in the local Community, particularly at this time of the year
This  concert of the most beautiful Christmas music, should not  be missed, so be sure to make a note of  the date in your diary -  Saturday 15th December at 8.00 p.m. in the lovely surroundings of the recently refurbished and redecorated St. John the Baptist Parish Church, Kinsale.
Musical Director Frank Buckley has designed a varied and wonderful programme  of Christmas music which will include all your traditional  favourites and will be enjoyed by young and old alike.  “I feel that the ideal Christmas concert should feature music that is instantly recognisable”, says Frank,” and be a celebration of timeless favourites from the great composers as well as familiar carols and more modern Christmas Songs.”
Indeed the programme will include many such: The Little Drummer Boy, Ave Maria (Caccini), O Holy Night, O Tannenbaum, The Wexford Carol, even I’m Walking in The Air from The Snowman
Artistes participating will be Fiona O’Reilly (Soprano), Louise O’Sullivan (Mezzo) and Michael Lawlor (Tenor).  Special guests are the City of Cork Male Voice Choir who will join with the Ladies of the Chorus of Opera Cork.  The accompanist for the evening is Annabel Adams; organist, Vincent McCarthy and narrator, Kevin Goggin. It is also rumoured that that many of your favourite characters will appear including The Fairy on the Christmas Tree, Santa, and others!
Tickets, €15, are on sale from Boland Crafts, Kinsale and from Society members. Concessions will apply for groups, pensioners and young people under 16.
Come along to a wonderful evening of music and support us in supporting this worthy charity!
